“The purpose of this project is to minimize the amount of waste created by owning several different pairs of flare jeans, using transformational pieces which conserve fabric. Not only can the flares exchange through a series of snaps, but they can also be worn as other looks. This way when the jeans go out of style, the base jeans can be worn regularly and the flares can be worn as a skirt, dress, or sleeves. This design also utilizes upcycled garments and textiles which further reduces the use of raw materials.

Currently, flare jeans are worn by a large part of the female college population, not only in Manhattan but in other parts of the Midwest. This collection is customizable to the wearer's needs and allows them to be creative which aids with emotional durability. This fits well with the demographic as they like to fit in, but still be unique.

Alpha of Clovia has paved the way for women to attend Kansas State University by helping them live economically. Many have been students of the College of Health and Human Sciences and were able to attend due to Clovia. The focus of both institutions has been to educate women to help them sustain themselves and serve others. The 4-H motto, “To make the best better” is the standard of excellence Clovia was founded on. At its founding, even though the times were hard due to the Great Depression, the positive outlook and the strong work ethic is the legacy of excellence that is woven through the bonds of the sisterhood. ”
