The Urban Hill Kiosk
“The Urban Hill Kiosk seeks to connect students from Inje University to Kansas State University by promoting the opportunity to study abroad. Through the use of a conceptualized hill form derived from Kansas State’s Flint Hills and the design philosophy of Bjarke Ingles, the design of the kiosk creates contrast against Inje University’s surrounding urban skyline in order to draw students into the space. In addition to meeting Korean anthropometric standards and metric measurements, the kiosk has the ability to be deconstructed for easy transport and assembly. The kiosk is designed to meet low-energy requirements with built-in battery storage, solar panels, and a simple hollow structure for wiring within the kiosk. The physical model has been 3D printed to 1:10 scale using filament in collaboration with the Sutherland Foundation Innovation Lab at the Kansas State University Library and was the first student project printed within the lab.”
