Indigo Tote - Small
The story told with the Indigo totes is the growth of knowledge we, as students have gained by this class and this project. We chose indigo dye for this bag because we learned about how to handle and make an indigo vat. Indigo is also grown and used in Guatemala. The lining of this bag is very unique. It is made from our shibori samples dyed in our own indigo vats. We learned a variety of different shibori physical resist methods which can be seen throughout the lining. We found this to be a good way to reuse these samples and be more sustainable. This tote embodies the sustainability taught in the IDFS program at K-State through learning traditional slow methods, utilizing samples in the lining, and dyeing with an organic indigo fermentation vat.
This tote is perfect for anyone who has a passion for education. It has strong connections to the classroom and what we focus on - sustainability.
