Ripped Jeans 1/1

“These are a pair of custom-made jeans I made for a friend of mine. She would always complain about her jeans never fit quite right, so I said “I’ll make you some!”. They are cut and sewn from 10oz brushed bull denim in black. The patches are from leftover scraps from various friends’ projects. I asked if they had any spare fabric of any kind and these are the ones I chose to use. That design pattern of the patches was placed where I thought they looked best, but mostly around normal wear and tear spots. The back-right pocket detail is one of my favorites. The distressing was all done by hand using several tools from metal brushes to sandpaper. Those details were placed again in the normal wear and tear areas to give the jeans not only that “worn in" look but also the feel. When I handed my friend the completed jeans and she put them on she was so excited and just over the moon at the fit and feel of them. At the end of the day seeing her reaction was the most satisfying part of the whole process, and that is something we should strive for as fashion designers. I hope that my future designs bring smiles to people’s faces and continue to empower anyone anywhere, to feel the best they can feel not only in their clothing but also in their own skin.”
