“Golden summer sunsets served as the design inspiration for this dress, which is evident in the fabric choice. I chose stunning sequin materials with sequin tassels that beautifully flow with even the smallest motion. In order to ensure the fit of the dress, a muslin prototype was first constructed. After the required alterations were done, I continued by sewing the body of the dress, which is composed of golden satin silk that also serves as the dress' lining. In order for the dress to support the weight of the sequin materials and add extra structure, it also has a corset-like top with boning. The original sequin pattern was hand altered to make my own design with the sequins. The sequin fabric was constructed using hand stitching techniques to have a continuous seamless pattern throughout the whole garment. It took several weeks to hand sew all the intricacies into the dress, despite the fact that the waist was machine stitched to prevent the dress from falling. The final product is a stunning gold sequin dress that gently catches the light and eye with even the smallest movement. This dress required knowledge of hand sewing, garment construction, attention to detail, and time management due to the lengthy hand-sewing process.”
