Next

“Next, founded by a Korean immigrant woman, is a beauty cosmetics company that strives to be vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainable. Located in New York, New York, this project is Next’s office workplace. The concept, “layers of skin,” was inspired by Next’s brand and market. Skin is a vital organ with three main layers that each holds an equal role in human life as all of them have to exist for the skin system to function properly. Similarly, an office thrives when all parts are intertwined and considered holistically. As a result, Next’s interior spaces were created for the purposes of the hypodermis, dermis, and epidermis. The hypodermis became foundational spaces that support all of Next’s stakeholders. The dermis became collaborative spaces that support joint efforts. The epidermis became “behind the scenes” spaces that sustain Next. Along with this organizational concept, the Activity-Based Model was researched to ensure that the office could effectively empower employees to provide excellent service. Furthermore, the idea of layering extends to the value that each individual brings to Next. This is a company and place where people are able to find skincare products that lead to radiant skin, so they can feel empowered to reflect their beauty into the world and beyond.”
