the modern lake home

The Modern Lake Home project was assigned towards the end of my 2nd semester of freshman year which is when I got sent home due to the pandemic. Our whole world was caving in before us, and everyone was making major adjustments to their lives. I went back to living with my family of six, and that was a shock for me, especially not being able to work in a studio with my classmates. The Lake Home project switched to being a software project while we simultaneously were learning the software to adjust to distance learning. It took a lot of perseverance and flexibility on both the professors’ and students’ ends to adapt to the changing times. Throughout my time learning from home freshman year working on the Lake Home project, there was major growth in confidence with my work. I began to feel more confident in software and my computer skills, while still further developing my drafting skills. This time in my education was drastically altered by the state of the pandemic, however, I do believe it has bettered me and overall been a moment of empowerment in my design career.
