the counterfeit industry: threatening the economic and social structure

The project includes almost all frames of empowerment that are relevant to this year’s theme. It explains and describes how the economy is affected by the production and selling of counterfeit goods. The fashion industry is huge and millions of dollars have been spent to end the spread of fakes. Trying to rebuild an ethical economy for consumers to buy and sell in. The project also includes how the counterfeit market creates social impacts. The manufacturing and distribution of fake products is a criminal act. It also is connected to many criminal networks that damage societies. By recognizing these effects it is the first step into rebuilding a stronger social construct against fake goods. The project not only embodies empowerment through economic and social factors but creating the project was extremely empowering to me. The time and effort I put into educating myself on a topic I knew so little about and now can write a whole research paper about and more makes me proud. Proud of not only myself but a college that takes pride in building students up and realizing their full potential.
