“The focus of this project was to create a weekend retreat for the Greene Family on Milford Lake. Included in the family was Mr. and Mrs. Greene and their two children. The home was to be created in the mid-century modern style; therefore, the design of the house needed to look and feel mid-century modern while also meeting the needs of the family. This project included both interior design and architectural design. The home was built from scratch following specific guidelines. The design of the exterior was crucial in creating a well-balanced home for the family offering them both privacy and great views of the lake and outdoors. Key features included in the design were numerous windows for natural light and views, open floor plan concept in social areas, separation zones for private rooms and unique design details based on the family’s background. The process of creating a house from scratch based on the needs of a client was a great learning experience and offered helpful insight into the importance of both architecture and interior design.”
