Business Casual Meets My Closet
“The intent behind this project was to evaluate the technical skills we learned in class. Accordingly, we were tasked to adjust a pant and button-down shirt pattern to correct the fit. The project was then evaluated on this final fit. My design was intended for me to wear as a business casual outfit. The button-down is intended to be worn also in a casual setting with a pair of jeans and a tank top. The trousers can also be worn separately with other business clothes or more casual with a cropped tank. The intention behind these pieces was to allow me to integrate them into my closet naturally. For me, building a staple wardrobe has been an ongoing personal development. These are pieces I can now wear as part of my closet. The pair may not seem fashion-forward, but they bring the puzzle pieces of garments in my wardrobe together. From an economic and social point of view, I will spend less money on buying fast fashion when I can just build from what I have. These garments were also great educational pieces for the development of my higher education. This was one of the first classes where we learned how to manipulate the pattern. This laid the groundwork for the higher-level courses that have since expanded my knowledge.”
