Station 1827

Our goal for empowering users was to support their health, safety, and welfare. We wanted to focus on their choices, themselves, their future, and those around them. We designed this hotel, restaurant, and workplace to be a common stopping place for the community. We are empowered people through unity by bringing everyone together. Station 1827’s atmosphere influences the user by uplifting their emotional state when entering this space. We drew inspiration from a train shed which is the building attached to a railway station. Train sheds usually consist of a glass roof that is arched and held in place by iron bracing. This form was precedent for the linear elements and overall design decisions. Simple and clear pathways amplify the use of linear spatial relationships in our design. The use of arches appears seamlessly throughout all spaces. These elements aid in leaving a grand impression on our guests. Overall, our hope was that the shared human experience can be pleasant for all, even among strangers, if the users are all receptive to the notion of a community.
